- Volunteers, recruited from the school and neighbouring communities, read weekly or biweekly for half a day during school hours
- Children read ½ hour twice weekly
- All reading is one-to-one
- All materials are provided by VRP and the school
- Volunteer training and a Police Reference Check are mandatory
- When children achieve grade level reading skills, they graduate from VRP
- All VRP children receive a certificate and gift of a book at the end of the school year.
2020-22 Virtual VRP (VVRP)
- Volunteers reading computer to computer, ½ day weekly or biweekly
- Grades 1 to 3 students in Virtual or In-Class programs
- Google Classroom, Zoom and other platforms used
- Children read ½ hour twice weekly
- All reading is one-to-one
- Volunteer training and a Police Reference Check are mandatory.
