Community-Based Programs

• Children, selected by the program director, read ½ hour with a volunteer twice weekly.

• Volunteers are recruited from the community program.

• All reading is one-to-one.

• All materials are provided by VRP and the Community Centre.

• Volunteer training and a Police Reference Check are mandatory.

• When children achieve grade level reading skills, they graduate from VRP.

• All VRP children receive a certificate and gift of a book at the end of the school year.
