Current Volunteers

Volunteers form the core of our program. The success of VRP is a function of their commitment and dedication.

Who are our Volunteers?

VRP Volunteers are people who value literacy and the importance of acquiring excellence in reading in early school years. They enjoy working with young children. They share a love of reading.

Where do we get Volunteers?

Our volunteers come from all walks of life: some are retirees, some are working at home, some are university students. All want to help children in their own or in a neighbouring community.

I wanted to express my appreciation to you … and to all of your volunteers. This is a meaningful program that makes a huge difference in children’s lives. Thank you so much for supporting the children.

Principal Joy Reiter, Lynnwood Heights

The Volunteer Readers that come to read with students … are fabulous! Their dedication to supporting student success, fostering a love of reading, and helping students develop stronger reading skills is much appreciated. We value their commitment and always look forward to their visits with us, because they feel like family.

Principal Sharon Lin, General Crerar

I just wanted to say what an amazing group of volunteers we have this year! They have been fantastic and the kids have loved working with them! Many thanks to you and the volunteers for all the countless hours you put in to help support the students! We really appreciate it.
