Questions or Concerns at School?
If you have a question for anything related to VRP — whether it is students, schedules, materials, or answering general questions about your reading sessions the first step is to reach out to your School Coordinator (SC) or Kristina. Please do not go to teachers as this can disrupt classroom routines. Your SC or Kristina have the full picture and can help handle things in a timely way. Remember your SC and Kristina are your VRP support team! (the VRP Volunteer Manual is a helpful resource as well.)
Partners Making a Difference
New volunteers often mention how much their reading partner helps them feel confident and prepared. One new volunteer shared after their first session: “It was delightful. The students were happy to leave the classroom and come with me. We wrote, we read, they drew, they picked stickers. I’m already thinking about what I’d like to work on next. I’m glad my reading partner is with me — if I have any questions, she has the answers.”
Another said: “It’s been wonderful to be part of VRP. Though I am new, I am enjoying the time spent with the kids and learning a lot from my very helpful and friendly reading partner. I feel lucky to have her as my coordinator and partner.”
These experiences show how volunteers supporting one another not only make sessions smoother, but also create a more positive, enriching environment for everyone in VRP!
🎃 Halloween Howls
Halloween is next Friday! To get everyone in the spooky spirit, here’s some high-quality humour to keep you giggling this week:

How do ghosts wash their hair? With sham-BOO!
What would you find on a haunted beach? …a sand-witch!
What are a monster’s favourite rides at an amusement park? The scary-go-round and rollerghoster!
What’s a ghost’s favourite game on Halloween? Hide and ghost seek!
Why do skeletons never fight? Because they have no guts!
What do you call the ghost of a chicken? A poultry-geist!
Thanks to Christine Haggarty (JE*) and Amanda Skinner (SC at GR*) for these spine-tinglingly funny submissions!
