VOLUNTEERING IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH
Dr. Iris Gorfinkel believes volunteering is medicine and the giver’s glow is key to good health. Thank you to a volunteer for bringing this recent Toronto Star article to our attention. Please note at the bottom of the article there is a request for people to get in touch about organizations that deserve a highlight ~ we hope you’ll consider sending a note about your VRP experience!
Toronto the Better
As part of the Star’s ongoing Toronto the Better initiative, this year we’ll highlight the people and organizations making a difference in the GTA and share volunteering opportunities that can inspire real change. Know of a person or group deserving of the spotlight? Email torontothebetter@thestar.ca
NEW WEBSITE LOGIN
VRP is 2 weeks away from launching the new website! Please scroll down to see what you can expect to see in your email. You will need to verify your address and create a new login.
SNOW DAY
Wild winter weather can sometimes prevent us from getting around our fair city. If you find yourself unable to attend your reading shift at the last minute please be sure to alert your fellow reader, SC and/or Kristina as early as you can. Also, if there are school closures due to inclement weather the TDSB landing page has information. Chances are it will be very obvious!
FEBRUARY IS VRP’S LOVE FOR LITERACY MONTH
VRP’S Annual Fundraiser is “Love for Literacy Month”. Each February we ask friends and supporters to give what they can so that we can continue to read in all the schools that ask for the program. Be sure to watch your inbox and NEWS for more important updates.
